About the Opportunities

As a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer, you’ll play an important role in the planning, coordination and delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across South Australia.

Depending on your experience and project, you’ll take ownership of work packages and contribute across project planning, programming, procurement, commercial management, technical coordination, construction delivery and stakeholder management.

The underlying Project Engineer role is responsible for supporting projects across all phases of the lifecycle and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and in accordance with quality, contractual and client requirements.

For our Senior Project Engineers, there’ll be greater opportunity to take ownership of larger or more complex scopes, provide technical leadership, mentor developing Engineers and work closely with Project Managers on broader project outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Support and lead the delivery of major civil and infrastructure projects.
• Take ownership of allocated work packages from planning through to completion.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and project resources.
• Support project planning, programming and construction scheduling.
• Manage and coordinate procurement of materials, equipment and subcontractor packages.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow and progress against programme.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation and reporting.
• Support contract administration and subcontractor and supplier agreements.
• Prepare and manage RFIs and technical queries.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Monitor construction performance, productivity and quality.
• Identify project risks, delays and opportunities and implement practical solutions.
• Support value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Supervisors and construction teams to resolve technical and delivery issues.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong focus on WHSEQ across all project activities.

Senior Project Engineers Will Also

• Take greater ownership of complex project scopes and work packages.
• Provide technical and project delivery leadership.
• Mentor and support Project Engineers and developing team members.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Construction Managers on project strategy and performance.
• Take greater responsibility across commercial, programme and client outcomes.
• Support complex technical problem-solving and construction methodologies.
• Help build capability across the wider engineering and project team.

What You’ll Bring

• Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Previous engineering experience within civil construction, infrastructure or major project delivery.
• Experience across project planning, construction scheduling and coordination.
• Exposure to contract administration and commercial project management.
• Understanding of project costs, budgets and financial performance.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong technical and practical problem-solving capability.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project and site teams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes.
• A proactive, motivated and adaptable approach.
• Current Construction White Card.
• Current Driver’s Licence.
• Flexibility to work across Adelaide and regional South Australian projects, depending on project requirements.

For Senior Project Engineer opportunities, we’ll be looking for more established project delivery experience and demonstrated capability to take ownership of larger or more complex scopes and support the development of others.

• Experience on major civil or infrastructure projects.
• Experience across bulk earthworks, roads, drainage, structures or broader civil works.
• Utilities, water, sewer or underground services experience.
• Experience delivering regional or remote projects.
• Strong commercial and contract administration capability.
• Experience taking ownership of significant work packages.
• Strong procurement and subcontractor management experience.
• Experience with MS Project, Primavera, InEight, Aconex, Procore or similar systems.
• Experience mentoring Engineers or other project team members.
• Defence or government infrastructure experience.
• A willingness to work regionally where project opportunities arise.
