About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be the go-to technical expert for the project team. You will support the Project Manager in all aspects of project delivery, including procurement, scheduling, and risk assessment. This role will see you step in for the Project Manager during their absence, demonstrating your leadership skills and technical proficiency. Primarily, you will be based out of our Nudgee office at Northgate but will also be required to work on-site across predominantly Brisbane metro locations and occasional regional Queensland project areas as required.

What You Will Do

  • Technical Leadership & Support: Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering and site teams, serving as the main technical point of contact for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Project and Financial Oversight: Assist in managing all project aspects, including tracking budgets and schedules, and preparing and reviewing progress claims, variations, and other key submissions.
  • Procurement & Contracts: Support the Project Manager with all procurement activities and prepare subcontract agreements.
  • Risk & Quality Management: Lead the site engineering team in promoting a strong safety culture and ensure all project quality requirements are met.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Interpret project plans and specifications to prepare technical documentation, RFI's, and project reports.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 5-8 years of engineering experience in major construction/infrastructure project delivery, preferably in the Civil Engineering space.
  • A recognised degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant tertiary qualification. (RPEQ recognition would receive preference).
  • Experience in contract administration and management, including complex variations and disputes.
  • Proven ability to manage construction procurement, scheduling and cost/cash flow.
  • Proficiency in project management software, ERP systems and project management platforms (e.g., InEight, Aconex, Procore).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Experience in a hands-on, site-based engineering role.
  • A strong safety and security focus with in-depth knowledge of health, safety, and defence compliance legislation.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance.
  • A proven track record of managing and reporting on project KPIs and productivity.
