McMahon Services is seeking an experienced Estimator – Environmental Services to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for an estimator who enjoys variety and wants to work across a broad mix of technically challenging projects, including civil construction, demolition, asbestos and hazardous materials removal, and environmental remediation.
Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you’ll help develop accurate estimates, practical methodologies and competitive tender strategies from initial RFX review through to project handover.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll support the preparation and delivery of tenders across a diverse portfolio of Environmental Services projects.
You’ll review tender documentation, prepare take-offs and first-principles estimates, coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing, develop cost schedules and contribute to construction methodologies and tender strategy.
You’ll also work closely with the broader team to identify risks, opportunities and value-engineering options, helping position submissions for successful outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Review RFX and tender documentation and identify estimating requirements.
- Prepare material take-offs and support first-principles estimates.
- Develop RFQs and engage subcontractors and suppliers for pricing.
- Prepare cost plans, commercial schedules and basis of estimates.
- Contribute to construction methodologies and tender documentation.
- Identify risks, opportunities and alternative delivery approaches.
- Support value-engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Maintain and utilise historical estimating and cost data.
- Participate in tender governance and commercial reviews.
- Support successful bid handovers to project delivery teams.
- Review estimating work and provide guidance to the broader team where required.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 2–3 years’ estimating experience within construction, civil, demolition, asbestos/hazardous materials or a related environment.
- Experience estimating multidisciplinary projects.
- Practical construction site experience.
- Strong understanding of first-principles estimating and project cost drivers.
- Good commercial and numerical capability.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with estimating systems such as Benchmark, Expert Estimation, CostX or similar.
- Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Formal or informal qualification in Engineering, Estimating, Cost Management or a related discipline.
- Current Driver’s Licence and White Card.
