About the Role

As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a key leadership role in the delivery of civil infrastructure works supporting Defence operations near Whyalla, South Australia. Working alongside an experienced project team, you'll help drive safe, high-quality project outcomes while contributing to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead and support key aspects of project delivery, including procurement, scheduling, contract administration, risk management and stakeholder engagement. You'll also provide technical guidance to engineering and site teams, helping to drive project performance and delivery excellence.

Operating on a Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) roster, with accommodation and work-away allowances provided, this permanent full-time opportunity offers the chance to broaden your experience within the Defence sector while developing your leadership capabilities on complex civil infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support engineering and site teams while coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and key project stakeholders.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, forecasting, progress claims, variations and project performance to achieve successful delivery outcomes.
• Oversee procurement activities, subcontractor engagement, contract administration and commercial management processes.
• Promote and champion a strong safety-first culture while driving project quality, compliance and risk management outcomes.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Mentor and support Project Engineers and site personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Prepare and review RFIs, technical documentation, progress reports and project records in line with project and client requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years' engineering experience delivering major civil, infrastructure or construction projects.
• A recognised degree in Engineering or other relevant tertiary qualification.
• Experience in contract administration and management, including complex variations and claims.
• Proven ability to manage procurement, subcontractor engagement, project scheduling and cost control.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, progress claims and delivery performance.
• Proficiency in project management software, ERP systems and project delivery platforms such as InEight, Aconex, Procore.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of project controls.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience coordinating project teams and subcontractors.
• Current White Card and valid Driver's Licence.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
