McMahon Services is seeking experienced Site Supervisors and Leading Hands – Civil Utilities to support delivery of civil and infrastructure projects across South Australia, including night shift operations.

Site Supervisors

Reporting to the Site Manager and Project Managers, you will manage civil utilities activities, coordinating subcontractors and crews to deliver strong safety, quality and program outcomes, across different shifts, including night operations. Clear communication and detailed handover reporting are critical to success. These roles focus on supervising civil utilities works, including water, sewer, drainage and associated services, delivered predominantly by subcontractors. You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification and in line with project programs.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise civil utilities works (water, sewer, drainage), including night shifts
• Coordinate subcontractors and site activities to meet short-term programs
• Drive WHS, environmental and quality compliance on site
• Maintain detailed site diaries and shift handover reporting
• Lead toolbox talks, safety inspections and risk controls
• Identify and escalate delays, variations and EOTs

What You’ll Bring

• Trade qualification with strong civil utilities experience
• 3-5 years’ experience supervising civil utilities or infrastructure works
• Proven experience supervising crews and managing subcontractors
• Ability to read drawings and manage site sequencing
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
• Commercial awareness and ability to identify issues early
• Experience supervising night shift utilities or live environment works (desirable)

Leading Hands

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will coordinate daily site activities, resources and labour while leading crews on utilities-focused civil works. This is a hands-on leadership role supervising delivery of water, sewer, drainage and associated civil infrastructure. You’ll ensure works are completed safely, to quality standards and in line with project programmes, while maintaining site records and supporting positive relationships with clients and the public.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise utilities crews delivering water, sewer and drainage works
• Coordinate plant, labour and materials to meet daily programs
• Monitor productivity, costs and site progress
• Maintain daily site records and communicate progress clearly
• Ensure WHS, quality and compliance requirements are met
• Support incident reporting and continuous improvement on site

What You’ll Bring

• Trade qualification with civil or utilities construction experience
• Minimum 2 years’ experience on utilities projects (water, sewer, drainage)
• Proven ability to lead crews and prioritise daily activities
• Clear communication skills and basic computer literacy skills
• Proactive approach to safety, quality and program delivery
• Ability to identify issues early and drive practical solutions
• Previous Leading Hand or step-up supervisory experience (desirable)

Both roles will require a strong understanding of WHS, including working around live services, public interfaces and protection requirements, along with a current driver’s licence, First Aid certification and the ability to obtain DCSI clearance.
