McMahon Services is seeking a motivated Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our Maintenance team based at our National Head Office in Dry Creek, SA.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term trade career, gaining practical experience across a diverse fleet of earthmoving equipment and auxiliary plant while completing a formal diesel mechanic apprenticeship.

About the Opportunity
As an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople supporting the servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel-powered plant and equipment. You’ll learn fault-finding, preventative maintenance and repair techniques while contributing to the reliability and performance of our fleet.
What You’ll Learn To Do
- Assist with scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, trucks and earthmoving equipment
- Conduct inspections and basic diagnostics to help prevent breakdowns and minimise downtime
- Support preventative maintenance programs across plant and auxiliary equipment
- Maintain a clean, organised workshop and safe work environment
- Work closely with supervisors, operators and workshop leadership to plan and prioritise tasks
- Accurately record completed work and maintain maintenance documentation
What You’ll Bring
- Commitment to undertaking a formal Apprenticeship in Diesel Mechanics
- Strong interest in heavy vehicles, earthmoving equipment and mechanical systems
- Good work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work safely and follow procedures
- Current driver’s licence (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
What Will Set You Apart
- Exposure to Caterpillar, Komatsu or Volvo equipment
- MR/HR licence (or willingness to obtain)
- High-risk or machinery tickets (e.g. White Card, forklift, EWP, dogging)
- Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability
