McMahon Services is seeking a motivated Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our Maintenance team based at our National Head Office in Dry Creek, SA.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term trade career, gaining practical experience across a diverse fleet of earthmoving equipment and auxiliary plant while completing a formal diesel mechanic apprenticeship.

About the Opportunity

As an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople supporting the servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel-powered plant and equipment. You’ll learn fault-finding, preventative maintenance and repair techniques while contributing to the reliability and performance of our fleet.

What You’ll Learn To Do

• Assist with scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, trucks and earthmoving equipment
• Conduct inspections and basic diagnostics to help prevent breakdowns and minimise downtime
• Support preventative maintenance programs across plant and auxiliary equipment
• Maintain a clean, organised workshop and safe work environment
• Work closely with supervisors, operators and workshop leadership to plan and prioritise tasks
• Accurately record completed work and maintain maintenance documentation

What You’ll Bring

• Commitment to undertaking a formal Apprenticeship in Diesel Mechanics
• Strong interest in heavy vehicles, earthmoving equipment and mechanical systems
• Good work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work safely and follow procedures
• Current driver’s licence (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing

What Will Set You Apart

• Exposure to Caterpillar, Komatsu or Volvo equipment
• MR/HR licence (or willingness to obtain)
• High-risk or machinery tickets (e.g. White Card, forklift, EWP, dogging)
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability
